Putting in the Steps
Responsibility and cooperation are key aspects of being a project manager. Alina Zheng learned these at a young age. As an only child, she always helped her parents with housework which cultivated a sense of accountability and teamwork, two things she delivers on every day at Kids2.
Alina, based in the Kids2 Zhongshan office, joined the Project Management Office team in 2022 and in a short year and half has made a big impact across a number of projects. Her favorite project to-date was supporting Winvention’s transition projects, which propelled the factor to not only meet, but exceed target revenue last year!
“The best part of Kids2 is working with very strong cross functional teams. Together, we have overcome various challenges to deliver projects successfully,” said Alina.
It’s not just overseeing projects that bring her joy at work, but joyful interactions with team members. For our Zhongshan office, she’s hosted a number of events including the 2023 Spring Lunch. But her favorite Kids2 event is Global Give Back Day.
“I feel very honored and proud to be able to do the same meaningful activity with my colleagues from all over the company.”
When not at work, you can find Alina hiking and mountain climbing with friends. Her favorite hike is Lion’s Head Mountain in Zhongshan. Of the 10 or so mountains she’s hiked, this one tops her list. She says Lion’s Head maintains its original beauty as is not artificially developed and offers good scenery and cultural charm.
“All you see is green any way you look, it’s intoxicating. The green even makes people’s eyes bright!”
Alina also enjoys running and learning Latin dancing. By far, she loves spending time with family especially enjoying traditional festivals. Chinese New Year is her favorite for the opportunity to be with loved ones and share little things about the past year and good wishes for the next year. But her favorite time is time spent with her husband and two sons.
“How lucky am I to be loved by 3 men,” she shared!
In her sons, she instills the value of doing the right thing… which is also her favorite Kids2 fundamental. “Each of us has a different role in society, family, and company. When you are a part of the company, you need to not only know what to do every day but do it right and do it well!”
Her advice to new team members: ask questions and communicate (2 additional key aspects of a PMO!). She recommends making it a priority to understand the company’s culture, processes, and structure. Most importantly, be a salesman – sell yourself to your new colleagues!
